Genius hour 2

So for this genius hour project I got curious on what I would do in the case of a natural disaster, when I realized I wasn’t the master over the elements and I couldn’t snap my fingers and stop a tsunami I sat down and researched the topic on how to prepare for the worst. I chose this topic solely out of curiosity, it seemed interesting at first so I gave I asked people who seemed knowledgeable on the subject and got started. After researching the topic enough I realized it wasn’t as complicated as I thought. I learn’t what type of food is best in terms of nutrition and packing size, where the best water is, what tools and or weapons would help, and where the best place to go would be. This didn’t really help me grow as a person, but it expanded my knowledge on survival preparation and organization. I also learned that the planet is very good at creating natural disasters on a larger and wider scale then I previously imagined, knowing this I realized preparation is key. Which is why right next to my bed is a Swiss army knife, flashlight, a HALO splinter assault gun, and a long bow. I kid you not A LONG BOW, I’m not dying in a situation where one of those would’ve been useful NOT TODAY. It can also be used as a baton and other things and it even folds up it’s very convenient. So if i’m in a situation where i’m faced with either a tsunami, earthquake, or flood I just have to do what Anakin Skywalker never could accomplish. Which was GET TO THE HIGH GROUND. strong high place = good for all situations except a tornado. So that’s what I learnt, very useful information, excited for genius hour three.

Twitter and Genius hour

So once again, we hand another genius hour project. Yay. Although this time a little twist was added to the mix, we had to go on twitter, follow ten people who knew and could help with the subject, and then ask them specific questions. After about a day of wondering what I wanted to do I remembered that my apocalypse post was quite liked so that’s what I went with. How to survive a wild situation. So according to these here directions I need to write down the names of the ten people I followed, for some reason… Ok. So I followed: Survivalist Social @survivalsocial, Survivalist Tips @TipsFromSteven, Survivalist Prepper @prepsurvive, Survivalist Daily @SurvivalPosts, Survivalist Gardener @SurvivorGarden, Begin Prepping @BeginPrepping, Preppers Anonymous @PreppersAnon, Instinct Survivalist @ISurvivalist, SurvivormanVerified account @reallesstroud, and finally Bear GryllsVerified account @BearGrylls.
The reason I followed all these people was because they had either basic or extreme knowledge on what I was doing. Some did survival as full time jobs, others simply did it as a hobby. Wether they were good or not the point was that they probably had good and useful information for me if I were to ask, so I did. So after following them we had to each ask them specific, unique, and different questions to try and help us learn more about the subject and further progress in our quest of knowledge. I asked things like where to go in the case of an earthquake, what are the best emergency rations, whats good and bad for people, etc.
After I asked all ten of them questions, only three decided to answer my questions, which was fine because I already had what I needed. After that, that was kinda it, I only messaged them once and once I got my answer I was done with the whole research part. Now I just need to take everything I’ve learnt so far and put it into a to minute slideshow presentation, and I’m done!
I could see this method working in the future for more school projects, maybe even future jobs. Simply going online and asking total strangers for help. Seems legit. But the point is that, we have access to a near unlimited amount of knowledge at our fingertips. If we need help, we can get it. If your stuck, you can get unstuck, if your just really confused, well, you can get less confused. So this whole, ask-people-on-Twitter-for-help, isn’t such a bad idea after all. Will I use it again? Probably not. With this much knowledge at our finger tips though, the question is, how will we use it and what will we use it for? Most likely to look up cat videos :P. Yeah, this went well!

Merry Christmas Gamers! and happy gaming!!!

Community’s in and out

So where I live there a plenty of community’s around here to take place and participate in. Ranging from social media, games, groups of people, and in school groups as well. So i’m going to do this in an orderly fashion and go down the little list I just made, lets start.

First of all there a plenty of social media sites here, well, obviously. Plenty of ways to meet new people and stay in contact with friends and family. But also, we have groups of people who gather to announce themselves and contribute to society via social media, why? Because that’s where everyone is, probably browsing memes or something. But the groups that I mentioned are either charity groups or schools or even other types of options. Social media is huge so really, no surprise here.

Now here’s a fun one and one close to heart, the community of gamers. Here, more people are playing games then I can count which a lot of you know how much of a gaming fanatic I am. There’s people playing mobile, PC, console, all over the place! I see people playing games like Minecraft, Pokemon go, anything they can grab off of steam, and pretty much any other multiplayer game or player interactive game out there. I see it school, at home, outside of my home. EVERYWHERE. It brings people together most of the time and overall is just a really fun experience.

Now this one is a very kind one, its groups of people. And I’m talking about people who willingly dedicate there time to help or assist others. I see charity groups, animal rescue, people who donate, everything! Though there are many, there are a few I can name. The first once is called DWG which stands for Dakar Women Group and I know this because, well, my moms in it and she plays an important role in it. What they do is that they host sales to raise money for charity, recently they hosted a Christmas market and raised over 8,000,000 CFA, or about 13,000 dollars, and all that went to charity, I really like the group its a good cause. They’ve been doing this for years and aren’t stopping anytime soon.

The next group I can name is called ARL which stands for Animal Rescue League. What they do is pretty simple, they find poor, abandoned, homeless, stray animals, nurture them back to health, and then put them up for adoption to go to a nice home with loving owners. Its really sweet and helps animals out a lot so good on them! Then there are just those random groups of people who donate food, water, supplies, etc. This stuff happens on and out of school and it really helps out a lot so, this is a good community.

Finally of course there’s the little community’s within schools, i’m going to use mine in this case, obviously. So there a plenty of people hosting after school activities like robotics, science, green team ( Help the earth type of activity ) soccer, basketball volleyball, etc. There a lot around here and its always nice to participate, its a lot of fun! Also the school raises money so, that’s also a huge plus.

So really there aren’t a shortage of community’s where I live and there a most likely plenty more to come. I suppose a pro to being in these community’s is that you can help or just have a good time, enjoy yourself and amuse yourself. A Kaan ( oops ), a con would be, depending on the community your in, well, it could either result in you not liking it or it might take too much work and effort for you to handle. Now personally I’m taking part in only two main community’s and those are the the social media and gaming community, no surprise there I’m all about those. It’s a lot of fun and I’m wondering exactly how far I can take it. Well, I guess it depends how I want it to be for myself and what I make of it. I’m having fun so far so hey, guess I might as well stay.

Anyways that’s enough from you, as usual, quick little question for you.

Whats your favorite community? drop you answer in the comments and I’ll be sure to check it out, until then, I’m gonna go do something legitimately pointless, as usual. cyaaaa! 😛

My average crippling depression ( jk ) filled day of school

So, apparently this week we’re doing school, alrighty then! So i’m just gonna talk about my average school day and what I do five busy days a week when I have to. I wake up at 7:20AM and start prepping for school. Just the usual like getting dressed, breakfast, packing, etc. At 8AM I leave my house ready for, the oncoming loveliness that is my school OH BOY. The first class of the day officially starts at 8:30 though so it gives you a few minutes do that final prep before the bell rings. I only have four classes per day, that’s it, just four. Seems innocent right? WRONG! SO VERY WRONG! Each class is 85 MINUTES. Yes, you heard me, an hour and twenty-five minutes EACH. So I have two of those to start the day and what classes I have vary on what day it is and how my schedule looks ( Its beyond confusing for new comers so good luck getting used to it. ) Then after those two 85 minute classes one of 3 things happen. We either have advisory on Thursdays which lasts from 11:20-11:55, or we have a community meeting on Monday which lasts the same time. Its basically where a specific school rank ( in my case high school ) get together go through announcements, awards, and in some cases games, they can be fun. OR, here’s the craziest one. The second class gets extend ended from 85 minutes to, get this, TWO HOURS aside from any other day then the two previously mentioned. So that could mean 2 hours of math, two hours of science, two hours of PE. Depending on the class it could either crush you or help you, its all luck. Then we have lunch where you can finally relax for a bit and regenerate what you can. Then we just have 2 85 minute classes to finish the day off dead tired.

So that’s my average school day, though iv’e only dented the iceberg on what goes on over here. It can be fun, it can be painful, it could absolutely destroy you or maybe, just maybe, help you. So that’s what I have to deal with on the classic 5 day school week, its not that bad when you get used to it, though until then, your gonna have to suffer with your brain slowly dying. In all seriousness though I’m happy i’m one of the many fortunate students who can afford school and learn new or old things.

So that wraps up my end, now I have a question for you dear reader, how long is your average class? Probably can’t top 85 MINUTES or TWO HOURS. Tell me in the comments below and until then, I’m gonna go do my homework, wish me luck, Actually you don’t have too cause I just finished! HA! cya!

3 amazing blogs with amazing facts!

So recently anyone participating in this challenge must’ve seen that we had to check out some more blogs for the interest of the challenge. I ended going down the list and I found 3 blogs that I thought were really amazing! I’m gonna say why I choose them, why I liked them, and leave a link to their blogs when I’m done, because, well, I’m nice like that ;D

So the first blog I checked was the blog of a dude named Tyler. I found interest in his post because it talked about a subject I recently posted, which was survival. He had a small list of very important tools to bring in the case of the worst and I took interest in it! Good job dude, hope you survive.

The next blog I checked out was one that was owned by someone who goes by,Karah. I was interested in this persons blog because they had written a very nice poem about the night sky and I thought it was very nice and I did very much enjoy reading it. I chose it because I myself am a an of space and the night sky. So that’s why I enjoyed Karahs post, good job! 😀

And the final post that I read was written by someone named Matt. His blog is about delicious foods and how to make them. The one that caught my eye was one about making perfect pork chops. I mean I can’t lie I’m a lover of food myself, i’m not about to turn down a quality recipe. Good job Matt! Good luck finding more recipes to make!

So yeah, those are the blogs I found and thought were interesting. Props to the creators for doing such a great job! Hope to see you all soon!

Oh and here are their blogs, or at least the links to the ones I posted.

Cya guys soon, and hope you have a great day! 😀

Video Games

Video games. What did they do for most of us? From games as simple as pong, to games like Zelda breath of the wild. Or consoles, like the N64, all the way to the Nintendo Switch. Gaming, revolutionized home entertainment tenfold! But was it for the better? Well yeah duh! XD. I’m not gonna lie, I am a huge fan of playing video games and I do really like them, I find them to be a fun part of my daily day life, and night life, and other things. But a problem with video games are this. They can be very addicting. Now of all people I know this very well. I once accidentally played Halo for 7 hours straight with my friends, I enjoyed it but, not really much of a good idea.  They can be entertaining and can trap you for hours in their grasp of mindless entertainment.

So I’m here to give you some advice so your mother doesn’t yell at you for playing 9 hours of minecraft. Try and limit your time to do other things, reading, work, hanging out with friends outside, going outside, anything else. I dunno what you people enjoy but I’m sure its totally fine.Gaming is a privilege and should not be abused even though its actually pretty fun. But don’t get locked on a screen all day, do other things, enjoy life, and have fun.

Now if you’ll excuse me I’m gonna go rek some n00bs MLG style.

What to pack for the apocolypse

Hello there fellow human who is barley grasping onto the will to live!

Well, for now, that barley might turn into a  top priority.

Ever wonder what would happen if the un-dead were to suddenly take over the earth? Would you even be prepared, are you prepared? Well, i’m here to make sure you don’t turn into a fresh walking piece of meat to these cannibalistic predators.

Weapons and tools

Some good tools to bring into the wastelands would be one or more of the following:

Baseball Bat ( Metal most effective ), High quality Swiss army knife, flashlight, flare gun, batteries, water purifier, and or a radio.

Having one or more of said items could easily protect you and help you greatly.

Food and water

Best food to eat would probably be soup, granola bars, certain fruits, and the top of the line, bread and potatoes. Find even those two and your set. For water, a river high in the mountains or your own fluids would be good, don’t forget to use the purifier if you have one.

Those are just some of the basics, if you find anything else helpful then please try and secure yourself. Now then, I have a question for you, leave your answer in the comments and tell me what you think, good luck, and don’t die.

Is having a shelter better? Or is being a nomad wasteland runner better?

Genius Hour and How Much Fun I Had

Recently we did something called Genius Hour in class. It’s as simple a sit sounds, we basically were given time in class to make a project on whatever we desired. Being myself I did my project on Halloween props and decorations! It was so much fun! I got to tell my class on how to make the decorations, materials needed, how cool they looked! I just had a lot of fun doing it because, I really like the seasons and the the holidays and events in them. Decorating and being festive is a passion of mine and I really like participating in all then fun. So yeah, I guess that’s really it for now. If your intersted in viewing my presentation, I have a link to the slides here. So until then, good luck decorating and Happy Halloween! <]:P
